Easy-Activate HearSafe with Android Automate

Set up HearSafe to automatically start when you listen to music, watch a video, or consume audio in other forms. It works in the background without you even noticing, making it as easy as possible. Enjoy superior protection effortlessly!

Step 1

Download and open Automate for free from the Google Play Store. Once you're in the app, click on the hamburger icon on the top left corner, then click on 'Settings'

Step 2

Scroll down till you find the 'Run on system startup' setting. Make sure this is turned on. Once it is, click on the arrow on the top left corner to return to the main menu.

Step 3

Then, download the file from here.

Once downloaded, try to open the file. (You might have to look for it in the downloads folder of your device). Your device will prompt you to select an app to open it. Choose Automate. Automate will then ask if you want to import it. Click on 'Import' to confirm the import.

Once you see the flow in your Automate app, click on it

Step 4

1) Make sure all the privileges are turned on. (It will prompt you to provide some permissions in your settings app)

2) Click the 'Start' button

Step 5

Select the app you would like to use HearSafe Hearing Protection for. In this example, Spotify is being used.

Done! 🥳

Click done, and you're finished! Congrats! Now your hearing will be protected automatically every time you open your configured app, making protecting your hearing seamless.

Manual Setup

Step 1

Download and open Automate for free from the Google Play Store. Once it's open, click on the "+" icon on the bottom-right corner

Step 2

Once you're in a page with a grid, click on the "+" icon again and search for "App in foreground?" Click on it when you see it.

Step 3

You should now see a "When Foreground App" block on your grid. Click on the block

Step 4

Click on the "Package" dropdown and choose the app which you wish to trigger HearSafe's Hearing Protection when it is opened. In this example, Spotify is being used.

Step 5

Click Save on the top-right corner. Then, click on the "+" again and search for "Content View." Once the block is on your grid, click on it again.

Step 6

In the Content URI textbox, click on "fx" to be able to do a custom URI, then type in this exact URL:

"https://protect.hearsafe.app"

(Make sure to include the quotes!!!)

Then, click Save

Step 7

Now, click on the "+" again and search for "Broadcast Receive." Add it to your grid, then click on it again.

Step 8

In the Action box, tap on "fx" to enter a custom action, then type in this exact text:

"protect.hearsafe.app"
(Make sure to include the quotes!!!)

It's the same text as earlier, but without the "https://"

Once you're done, click save.

Step 9

Once you're in the grid again, click on the "+" and search for "App Start." Click on it to add it to your grid, and then click on it again.

Step 10

Click on the "Package" dropdown and add the same package you picked earlier. (In this example, we are using Spotify). Then, click Save.

Step 11

We are almost done!

Finally, search for and add the Delay Block. Once it's on your grid, click on it again.

Step 12

Click on duration and enter 10 seconds. click on Ok, then click on Save.

Step 13

Now, connect the blocks together in the configuration seen in the picture exactly.

To connect a block, drag from the beginning point to the ending point to where you want to connect. For example, if you want to connect the "Yes" green circle to the "in" of the View content block, just drag from the "Yes" and let go on the "In"


Here are all the connections required:
Flow beginning -> When Foreground App -> View content -> Receive Broadcast -> Start App -> delay -> connect back to the "In" of When Foreground App. Also make sure the "No" of When Foreground App is also connected back to its "In."

Step 14

Click on the back button to exit the grid. Make sure all the privileges are turned on. Then, click on start

You can also click on "<Untitled>" to edit the name if you'd like. The example is named as "HearSafe - Hearing Protection"

You can now safely exit the app.

Done! 🥳

Click done, and you're finished! Congrats! Now your hearing will be protected automatically every time you open your configured app, making protecting your hearing seamless.
